More trips to Carmarthen

I have been making daily trips out now - testing new ideas to see what stands up. I remember from working in my first year at Poppit that it took quite a while to get 'settled' into a certain way of thinking - allowing me to focus on the goals rather than procedures. As I fine tuned the work it seemed to get more and more abstract. I wonder what will happen to the current project - as if it gets much more abstract it would just end up as one big blur.

Testing

The last few days have been busy with admin work and trips out trying to capture new images. New ideas are coming thick and fast but I have found that this can swamp what I am trying to concentrate on - so I have to hold back and try and get a single vision into my mind.

I will soon have some of these new ideas framed and ready. I find that with my earlier work the framing was just a way of getting the image ready to be seen - whereas this new work relies heavily on the frame and mount to push itself outwards towards the viewer. With the detailed photos of Poppit they needed to be big - with these new ones they have to be small to produce the intense condensed punch.

Free from snow at last

I have been out trying some different techniques and ideas. I am looking for busier and busier places to shoot - with more people and more wonderful buildings to place them against.

More snow stopping work

Once I am bitten by the bug of a project I need to crack on with it - as I feel that you need to get up to speed before your best work will happen. Over the last few weeks it has been a constant stop/start situation with the snow as I cannot get out to Cardigan to take shots when I need to. However, this has left me free to work on other admin duties that are maybe not quite so exciting.

Long Period of Work

I have been getting my head down with this new line of work - different procedures need to be practiced and repeated until they become like second nature.

I have also been working on the books and planning trips for some new projects for 2010.

Short Break

After a short Xmas break I am back on the current project. I have had a number of ideas about new projects using the techniques taken from this work - with new subjects appearing in my mind's eye all the time.

However, the snow here is limiting my daily travels so it is back to admin work for the moment.
